Washington CHSS Member School Network Events 2021-2022

Virtual Training for New Team Members:

This virtual training is geared toward participants in National CHSS member schools who are new to their existing school 9th grade success teams. We encourage all participants in our network to take part in our foundational onboarding to best understand the “why,” “what,” and “how” of our work with 9th grade teams. We will offer multiple repeat sessions available to any members in our national network. Additional sessions will be added based on demand.

Kick-off 2-Day Institute Onboarding Retreat for Schools New to our Network:

Planned as an in-person event. This two-day retreat is for WA CHSS partner schools new to the network. We will ground our new 9th Grade Success teams in the “why,” “what,” and “how” of our work as well as train teams how to use our research-based processes and protocols to guide 9th Grade Success work. Further, schools will identify a Problem of Practice and Theory of Action aimed at supporting 9th grade students for the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, participant schools will meet with other teams in the network to establish partner relationships that will enable members schools to support each other in the work. Registration information will be sent to members nearing the time of the event.

One-Day Retreat for Northwest Region:

Planned as an in-person event. This one-day retreat is for member schools in Whatcom County in the second year of implementation. Our Whatcom County Schools will identify a Problem of Practice and Theory of Action aimed at supporting 9th grade students for the 2021-2022 school year. Additionally, participant schools will meet with other teams in the network to establish partner relationships that will enable members schools to support each other in the work. Registration information will be sent to members nearing the time of the event.

One-Day Retreat for Year 2-3 Member Schools (Outside of Northwest Region):

Planned as an in-person event. Each member school will schedule a work session to identify a Problem of Practice and Theory of Action aimed at supporting 9th grade students for the 2021-2022 school year. These localized work sessions will take place prior to September 14th scheduled in concert with school-based leadership. Registration information will be sent to members nearing the time of the event.

Kick-off Virtual Collaboratives (All Members):

These 90-minute sessions are for all 9th Grade Success Teams. During these sessions, members schools will be sharing their Problems of Practice, Theory of Action and corresponding metrics for success. Further, participants will continue to develop professional relationships across the state in service to 9th Grade Success Work. 9Th Grade Success Team can choose either of the repeat sessions. Members of the same team should all register for the same session. Registration information will be sent to members nearing the time of the event.

Fall Collaborative:

Planned as an in-person event. These regionalized full-day collaboratives are for all member schools. We will be analyzing first term performance data, adjusting Theory of Action as needed, as well as providing additional targeted training in service to the work. We will also be celebrating our successes! Teams will be able to share work and strategy development with other partner schools in the regional network. Registration information will be sent to members nearing the time of the event.

South Central Washington (Yakima Area): Tuesday, November 9th and Wednesday, November 10th

Northwest Washington Region (Snohomish and Whatcom County): Tuesday, November 16th

Winter Collaborative:

Planned as an in-person event. These regionalized full-day collaboratives are for all member schools. We will be analyzing mid-term performance data, adjusting Theory of Action as needed, as well as providing additional targeted training in service to the work. We will also be celebrating our successes! Teams will be able to share work and strategy development with other partner schools in the regional network. Registration information will be sent to members nearing the time of the event.
